  • How do you get your agents to do updates

My agents are slackers. I have to beat them up for updates almost every day.

How do you deal with it with your guys?

    Updates

I have run into that dilemma in the past .....nip it in the butt ASAP or else they (the agents) will turn around and start dictating to you about how to run your business ...make a rule no updates .....no new work ..... You'll see how quickly they will fall in place ......just don't push to hard

    My 2 cents

Just tell your agents if they are not going to do their updates that you are going to ride with them to see what the problem is and help them resolve things. Let them know that your time is worth a lot of money, but you are going to charge them a discounted cost of $250 a night plus meals and expenses. Remind them you like steak! So make sure they understand that if you climb in their wrecker to help them resolve this issue, then the clock starts and the above terms kick in.

Don't pay them. See how quick updates get done. Tell them I'm gonna pay you like I get my updates......late.

Our agents just use RDN. If they don't do an update it is on their run sheet the next day. They don't want that so they do their updates.

We start by paying our agents above average and close fees. Second, we heavily skip the accounts before turning over to the agent. Third, for those who work full time and only for us, using our equipment, they get to take it home, customize it, and get a better truck when necessary.

If this doesn't work, they can talk a walk. Of our full time agents, the ones that are the most new, have been with us for 10 years.

Pay per update...if there's no update then there's no proof it was even ran. We use VA Repo (love it) plus we take a pick of the house and mailbox and those get sent to the office for every address ran with no recovery.

It's real simple with Va Repo by your side!

Like just shared above (thank you btw), you can let your field agents simply create updates and then you pay them per update.

My fathers repo company Mid-Atlantic Auto Recovery pays $1 for a basic property update describing the property, $2 if the update also has photos and or vehicle descriptions and $3 if they blow the address out.

As updates come into the messages inbox, they just mark off how much they owe for the update and move on.

Your entire team can simply run off a "Live" self-maintaining repo map that only shows Active addresses. No routes or paperwork required and no interaction needed to get the field presence running the addresses. Everyone knows that if they see pins on the map, then they can go make money.

As 3-4 addresses come in for any address, the office can shut the address off to the Scouts so the Recovery Agents can then go out and knock on the doors to find out why the collateral has not shown.

Your entire team can simply use the map to thoroughly sweep through entire cities without wondering if there was anything else to be done and without missing a single location. It allows you to live off the maps and stop living off lists that require maintenance to create and dispatch.

All of you that run off lists and are required to tell your field agents what to do, you need to go to www.VaRepo.net and get on board with the tools that I created over the last 5 years as I ran MAAR so you can feel how much easier life is when you use tools that were created by someone in shoes very similar to your own.

It's all 100% free and is here to help us all provide better services to our clients so the sooner you get in and realize the realities of what we are giving away, the sooner you and your team can start letting technology handle much of the tedious BS that comes with running a repo company and move on to things other than managing field efforts and updates.

If your competition gets ahold of this first and gets their team up to speed ahead of you, you will begin finding it harder to get more work because your clients will already have teams in place that give them exactly what they need and they will be less likely to send it your way.

Get with the program my friends and start playing with the software I created to dominate the MAAR service area through working less and providing better services. Work smarter, not harder. The tools are right in front of you, all you need to do is request to use them.

We use RDN at work and I update my accounts every time I run an address. And I usually give the best description I can of the property and house/garage/pole barn etc.... I know our clients regularly check our updates to see how we're performing in the field and I always do mine because if my boss loses work... Then so do I. In my opinion, you shouldn't have to pay your agents or spotters extra to do their jobs. Running addresses and updating the accounts is part of the job. if you have lazy agents or spotters that can't take 2 minutes of their time to simply acknowledge that they ran a given or skipped address and could not locate your unit then maybe you need new employees that aren't so lazy.

You have to take care of your Scouts or your Scouts will not take care of you...

It is great that you push towards professional updates personally as Updates hold the key to success for any team and the more detail you provide, the more your clients trust that you are actually doing the work... As far as Recovery Agents go, this should be a no-brainer and Updates should be completed any time the truck is taken to any address otherwise all time and fuel spent getting there and back are a total loss... Updates are vital.

As Far as Scouts go, let's get real... their job is to run around checking addresses so that the trucks do not have to spend that same time and fuel to create the same updates... If they are only creating updates at the addresses, and you don't pay them, what happens when they run around all week for you and only find 1 repo, but they created 40-50 updates? Your team has those updates to give the clients, your trucks did not have to run around and create those updates and your Recovery Agents were able to focus their time and fuel on things other than creating those updates... How is this fair? And do you think that your Scouts will want to create updates for your team if they are already taking a total loss in time and fuel for you? It seems almost like the mentality that is used by some clients that repo companies object to...

It is not lazy employees, as much as it is being able to take the money you would have spent on creating updates and giving it to your Scouts so they do not take a total loss to create your updates... If you would have spent $3-$4 to go out to an address to create an update, how is it not smarter to pay a Scout $2 for the same update and be able to have your trucks putting time and fuel elsewhere?

Sorry, but at least at my fathers repo company, they are fair and real about the needs of their Scouts and they enjoy the capabilities of Scouts running around so they make sure nobody on the team ever thinks it costs them money to work there.

It is a totally different game when you have multiple Scouts running around and they are real people with real bills and if you think you will be able to get them to eat losses like like your repo company must, then I imagine you may find it difficult to keep productive Scouts for long periods of time.

Regardless, stay safe out there buddy...
