  • Going charge rate...

Years ago we charged a certain amount for in town repo's, and price went up the further outta town we had to travel. Just wondering what the going rate is now?? Yes I'm a newbie just getting back into it. lol

PM if you don't want your business out there. Thanks

The guy I use charges $100 for in town repos. I haven't had to take anything out of town yet. It's not a huge town mind you - but I think $100 is a heck of a deal. He's the only guy in town that does it too.

A $100? They are scabs. Do they have repo insurance? Do they use cars a two dolley or wreckers to repo your cars?

To be honest you are part of the problem killing this industry.

The $100 wont be a heck of a deal when something goes wrong, you get sued and he has no wrongful repossession insurance. And please don't insult us by coming back and telling us that he in fact does have insurance. We all pay our premiums here and know that $100 a repo often doesn't even cover the fuel costs of an "in town" repo much less the insanely high price of having the proper insurance.

Well keep in mind it's an 8,000 population town, not even a small city. He is insured, has a flatbed truck, but it's not something he does full time. He has a pretty large detail shop in town, and also does all the repo work for a very large dealer in town.

It's not really "part of a problem" when he's the only guy in town that does repo work.

Wait...he pays for "repo" insurance and just charges $100 and for extra cash...if he pays even half of what me and some of these other guys pay he could drop the insurance policy and make more money on what he saves versus that

I don't know how much you guys have to pay for insurance, probably more than you like, and frankly I wouldn't know the first thing of how insurance charges you. All I know is he's insured, and charges $100 for in town repo. I'm sure he charges more for having to go out of town etc... But you can literally drive from one side of town to the other in no more than 10 minutes with traffic... I suppose it helps being a small town, so he knows everybody, knows when they're at work, who they hang out with, what bar they go to, etc...

I'd imagine he makes most of his money from the large Dealer in town, I've never bothered to ask him if he charges them the same or not.

This is the reason anyone who repossesses vehicles should have to be LICENSED!! This would eliminate most of the problems like this.Ken

Do you have a copy of his insurance certificate? Are you listed as addional insured. Is wrongful repo listed on that certificate? If no wrongful repo coverage he has no insurance when repoing a car. Do you realize you are liable for his actions we he is repoing your cars.

$100 repos is the reason this industry is crap. I don't care how big your town is. Thats the reason he is the only guy in town because nobody else in their right mind would run for that rate. Makes me sick.
