Auto Repossession Agent Shot At
PLACENTIA – Police are searching for three people who fired rounds at a car repo man in a Placentia neighborhood this morning.
At about 2:10 a.m., in the 200 block of Backs Lane, the man who had come to repossess a car was confronted by several people, who demanded the man stop taking away the Chrysler 300, said Lt. Eric Point of the Placentia Police Department. The car was being repossessed because of nonpayment.
The man refused and eventually got into a heated argument with the group of three.
He then tried to flee in his pickup, which had a tow hookup. Someone fired several rounds at the repo man's car with a small-caliber handgun, Point said. The repo man was not injured.
The three fled the scene and are at large. None of the three owned the car that was being repossessed, Point said.
Police have taken temporary possession of the pickup, which took several bullets, and the Chrysler.
