Natick man tussles with repo man, police say

A Natick man shoved a repo man trying to take his car on Tuesday, and tried to hide the vehicle, before being arrested, police said.

Thomas Aquinas Carr, 50, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. near his 28 Charles St. home, police spokesman Lt. Brian Grassey said.

Around 10:30 p.m., a man hired to repossessed Carr's 2001 Nissan Sentra hooked the car to the back of the tow truck.

Carr shoved the repo man, whom police did not identify, and then tried to get the car unhitched from the tow truck.

"He somehow got into his motor vehicle and tried to free it by rocking back and forth," the lieutenant said.

The tow truck driver let the car down rather than damage the truck. Once free, Carr drove over his own lawn and sidewalk to get away, Grassey said.

The tow truck driver called police. When they arrived, Carr refused to tell them where he put his car. Police found it down the street from his house.

Carr was arrested and charged with assault and battery, driving under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and impeding an investigation.

The impeding an investigation charge stems from Carr refusing to tell police where he put the car, Grassey said.

Carr pleaded not guilty at his Natick District Court arraignment yesterday. He was released without bail.

He is due back in court on Jan. 8 for a pretrial conference.
