  • Bobby Ferguson's custom trucks are in repo man's crosshairs

    http://www.freep.com/article/2012041...text|FRONTPAGE

First the FBI. Now the repo man.
Indicted contractor Bobby Ferguson has a private eye on his tail because of three missing, custom-painted construction trucks -- believed to be red, white and blue -- that an Indiana bank is trying to recover from Ferguson, the Free Press has learned.
The private investigator, Ronald Brunkel of Tri-Force in Mishawaka, Ind., said he has been on a wild goose chase since February, trying to find the trucks on behalf of 1st Source Bank in South Bend, Ind.
The FBI doesn't have them, Brunkel told the Free Press in a Friday interview. And Ferguson, who will go on trial this year in two separate public-corruption cases, isn't being helpful, Brunkel said.
"Obviously, he's avoiding me," said Brunkel, who was camped out in front of Ferguson's home in Detroit on April 3.
Brunkel said he managed to talk to Ferguson's wife in the driveway, and she promised to relay a message. But Brunkel said he hasn't heard back.
Ferguson's lawyer, Gerald Evelyn, said Monday that he did not know anything about the trucks, so he declined to comment. Ferguson could not be reached for comment.
Brunkel is offering a $500 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the recovery of the trucks.
According to records filed in Wayne County Circuit Court, 1st Source Bank sued Ferguson and his company, Ferguson Enterprises, in June over money owed on a promissory note for three 2008 Kenworth T800 tractors.
In 2007, Ferguson executed a promissory note to the bank for $317,403 for the trucks, but he still owed nearly $127,000 on the note as of April 2011, court records show. Ferguson never responded to the lawsuit, so a default judgment was issued against him Jan. 27.
Wayne County Circuit Judge John Gillis also authorized the Wayne County Sheriff's Office to seize possession of the trucks on behalf of 1st Source Bank.
The bank also hired Brunkel's company to help find the trucks. Brunkel said he contacted the FBI, which seized assets of Ferguson Enterprises during a November raid. FBI agents also seized nearly $500,000 from nine accounts tied to the Ferguson investigation, along with numerous pieces of construction equipment.
The colorful trucks, however, were not on the FBI's seizure list.
"The FBI says they don't have them, and they weren't on the property when they made their seizures," Brunkel said.
    The FBI declined to comment.
    Brunkel isn't giving up.
"We can go to the next legal avenue. We can get Bobby served," he said. "But we haven't gone to that point yet."

we work on over 100 trucks a year and see on an average of 120 trucks a month (up close and personal). Would ya want to take a guess on how look like the ones in the picture, w/rotator light and all ? Can ya get better pictures. Vin's would also be great to have. If we can be of any assistance just let us know...
