  • Man arrested after threatening to use stun-gun on car lot owner for repossessing car

NEW HAVEN — A man who was upset about his car being repossessed had bigger problems to contend with Saturday after he failed to heed police warnings that he take the matter up with the finance company rather than the car lot, police said.

Officer David Murgo was sent a second time to Lucky’s 7’s Auto Sales, 23 Bernard Road, just before noon. He had been sent there earlier in his shift after someone reported that a man was there waiting for the business to open, said police officer David Hartman.

The man, identified as Richard Brown, allegedly wasn’t pleased that his car had been repossessed, Hartman said. Murgo warned him to stay away, but Brown allegedly didn’t heed the warning.

When Murgo arrived the second time, Lucky 7 owner Brian Page met him and said Brown came in, was upset about the repossession, wouldn’t listen to him, was screaming in his face, knocked his hat from his head and raised his fists at him, Hartman said.
Page told police that Brown then pulled out a small black object and after aiming it toward him, said he was going to Taser him. Brown allegedly activated the device a couple times and demonstrated it was on.

Brown turned over the ‘stun-gun,’ which was not a Taser brand device, to Murgo and was arrested and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, second degree threatening and breach of peace, Hartman said.
