  • “Repo Man” Hurt During Confrontation In McKeesport

    http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/...confrontation/

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A “repo man” had a close call after the man he was after tried to run him over.
Geoffrey Hyde, 42, of Jefferson Hills is facing charges of aggravated assault and risking a catastrophe.
McKeesport Police say he had a violent confrontation with a man at the Speedway Gas Station on Fifth Avenue in Monday afternoon.
According to court documents, Michael Engle had a valid repossession order for the car that Hyde was driving, a Chevy Impala.
Engle approached Hyde near a gas pump, but Hyde sped up and drove directly towards Engle, who was forced to jump onto the hood of the car.
An officer who observed the incident said Hyde drove recklessly in reverse, and driving in circles, until Engle was thrown from the car.
The officer said Hyde drove with a total disregard for customers who were nearby.
“They took the driver out, put him on the ground, handcuffed him and searched the car under the front seat,” said witness Tom Kamauf. “They tried to talk to the guy, but he wouldn’t listen to them.”
Hyde was jailed on $10,000 straight bond.
Police said Engle was shaken up, but, fortunately, otherwise sustained only abrasions in the confrontation.

      Auto Dealer Penalized For Repo

Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden announced an agreement with a Boise auto dealer to resolve allegations of harassing debt collection and repossession acts.

Wasden's Consumer Protection Division received multiple complaints about Western Auto Sales that alleged the dealership used deceptive business practices. Western Auto Sales allegedly misled a mentally-impaired consumer during the sale of a car, deceived another consumer during the transfer of a motor vehicle service contract and made threats against a third consumer, in addition to harassing his wife, during the repossession of his car.

Western Auto Sales paid $950 for attorney fees and agreed to not engage in harassing debt collection or repossession acts or practices along with other concessions.

Western Auto Sales resolved the consumer complaints and agreed to pay a $15,000 civil penalty if it fails to comply with the terms of the agreement. Source: www.washingtonexaminer.com.

        Sheriffs Repo Service Dog

An emotional repossession case in Council Bluffs, Iowa, removed the service dog of a diabetic child.

Chewy protects five-year-old diabetic Evan Spizzirri with her nose.

But after two years living with Evan and his family, Chewy has been repossessed by the service dog company. Mom Jeana said a sheriff's deputy seized the Labrador.

"The way we see it is, yes you can sue us for the money, take us to court, that's fine. We can fight it all we can, but don't take my son's dog away from him," she said.

Chewy cost $19,000 and the Spizzirris still owe about $12,000 but stopped making payments to Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers, based in Virginia.

The trainer claims he's been denied access to Chewy for a year.

The family plans to post a bond next week so Chewy can be returned until the payment dispute goes to trial in July. Source: www.wowt.com.

I wonder how may bonus speedway points you get for that.
