ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A situation got out of control when a man attempting to repossess a car was threatened with a handgun in southeast Rochester.

Rochester police Lt. Mike Sadauskis said a man working to repossess a car from Dodge Center arrived about 3 p.m. Friday to the 700 block of 12th Street Southeast. The man saw the 1994 Buick Park Avenue he was looking for parked in the KFC parking lot. When the man attempted to moved the car, he found 23-year-old Anthony Wallace in the car. Wallace, who Sadauskis said was homeless and living in the car, maneuvered the vehicle out of the spot and took off.

Sadauskis said Wallace ran several stop signs, and stopped once he got to the traffic light at Marion Road Southeast across the street from Kwik Trip. When the Dodge Center man working to repossess the vehicle pulled up next to the car, Wallace allegedly flashed a handgun at him. The man called police and officers arrested Wallace.

Sadauskis said officers are still looking for the gun. Police ask that you call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if you see a handgun on the side of the road.

Wallace is facing a charge of second-degree assault, as well as several other charges.
