    AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A man became irate after his car was repossessed and used a knife to theaten a car lot employee and a child, according to police. He was booked on an assault charge.

    On May 23 at 3:41 p.m., Amarillo police officers were sent to Pancho Auto Sales at 2610 S. Mirror on a disorderly subject armed with a knife.

    The caller indicated the suspect that was armed with a knife was a Hispanic man in his 30s wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. As officers arrived, they saw man matching the description of the subject exit a vehicle that was parked in front of the business. The man was identified as Billy Joe David Rodriguez, 33, of Amarillo.

    Rodriguez was detained and placed in a patrol car while officers continued their investigation.

    According to the victims, Rodriguez's vehicle was repossessed earlier in the day and returned to Pancho Auto Sales. An employee of the car lot talked to Rodriguez and explained the situation of the repossession; however, Rodriguez became very argumentative and irate.

    At one point, Rodriguez retrieved a pocket knife from the repossessed vehicle and began threatening the employee and the employee's 7-year-old that was at the car lot. The employee and the child ran from Rodriguez and locked themselves in another part of the business and called the police. Rodriguez was found to be in possession of a pocket knife with a 5" blade.

    Rodriguez was arrested on charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for assault causing bodily injury out of Potter County. He was booked into the Potter County Correctional Center.
