  • Homeowner Opens Fire on Repo Man

    http://www.woai.com/articles/woai-lo...o-man-13669441

Being a Repo Man is dangerous work, as one guy learned the hard way on the city's west side this morning, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The Repo Man was hooking up a car to be repossessed in the 100 block of Bernice, which is near Callaghan and Culebra, about 1:30AM today.

The homeowner heard noises and went outside and started shooting at the Repo Man with a handgun.

The Repo Man managed to get the heck out of there, and drove a few blocks where he called police.

Officers arrived and took both the Repo Man and the homeowner downtown for questioning.

The state's 'Castle Doctrine' law allows homeowners to use deadly force to protect their property, but does not allow a homeowner to shoot at somebody who has a legitimate right to be there. State law implies that a car which is being legitimately repossessed by the creditor who carries the note on it has a legal right to that vehicle, so a Repo Man has the right to reclaim what is considered to be his employers' property.

Fortunately, the homeowner was a lousy shot. The Repo Man suffered wounds from the broken glass when his bullets hit the rear of his truck.
