UPPER DEERFIELD -- Two people apparently suffered minor injuries when their own vehicle struck them while it was being repossessed Wednesday night."It appears to be a misunderstanding," state police Capt. Al Della Fave said.
Sandra, 53, and Fred, 47, Werkheiser were taken to South Jersey Healthcare Elmer Hospital for treatment of minor injuries following the incident at their home in the 500 block of Old Deerfield Pike at 9:25 p.m., Della Fave said.
Sandra Werkheiser declined comment Thursday night and said her attorney advised her not to talk about the incident. She would not provide the attorney's name.Della Fave said an agent from Elite Collateral Recovery Inc., in Elizabeth, was in the process of repossessing a vehicle owned by the Werkheisers.
"They thought it was being stolen," Della Fave said, adding he did not know what type of car had been repossessed.
No other information about the incident was available from state police at the Bridgeton station Thursday evening, and the investigating trooper only would say the investigation is still open, and charges had not yet been filed. The trooper declined to say whether he expects to file charges
